Professor in Feed Technology
Kansas State University, Department of Grain Science and Industry

Dr. Charles Stark and the Feed Science program at Kansas State University are globally recognized as leaders in feed research, education, and outreach. Stark has joint faculty appointments in the Department of Grain Science and Industry and the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry at Kansas State University. Dr. Stark is the Jim and Carol Brown Professor in Feed Technology. Dr. Stark received his degrees from Kansas State University in Animal Sciences (B.S.) and Grain Science (M.S., Ph.D.). 

Dr. Stark serves as the Faculty Coordinator of the new O.H. Kruse Feed Technology Innovation Center and Cargill Feed Safety Research Center. A primary focus of the O.H. Kruse Feed Technology Innovation Center is training the next generation of feed industry leaders through classes, student internships, and extension workshops.  

 

Mike Apley
Professor, Production Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology
Kansas State University

Dr. Mike Apley is a professor at Kansas State University where he teaches beef production medicine, large animal medicine, and clinical pharmacology courses. Dr. Apley’s research focuses on infectious disease, antibiotic efficiency and resistance, drug residues, and applications of drugs in food animals. He is esteemed for his work regarding the use of pharmaceutical drugs in food animals and feedlot health. Dr. Apley received his degrees from Kansas State University (DVM, Ph.D.) and his Diplomate from the American College of Veterinary Pharmacology. 

In 2013, Dr. Apley received an Outstanding Service Award “for dedicating his career to improving animal health and veterinary medicine by sharing his insights and expertise on antibiotic use in livestock” from the Academy of Veterinary Consultants. 

 

Steve Pollmann
DSP Consulting LLC

Dr. Steve Pollmann is the owner of DSP Consulting LLC, where he works with clients on product development and swine production management. He retired from Murphy-Brown, LLC, a subsidiary of Smithfield Foods, in May 2014.  

Dr. Pollmann received his B.S. in Animal Science from Utah State University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Swine Nutrition from the University of Nebraska.
