Any fortress built to withstand outside elements starts with a strong base.  The same can be said for your calf herd.

Immunity is created by providing a solid foundation at birth that protects the calf from disease throughout its entire life.

In this Elanco Science & Solutions presentation, Dr. Brett Terhaar discusses the importance of annual vaccination programs and how this can increase the amount of circulating antibodies in the cow. By administering the vaccine at pregnancy check—which would be in the fall for spring-calving herds—the cow has enough time to be at peak antibody level before she starts making colostrum. This increases the level of antibodies transferred to the calf and helps establish a foundation of immunity immediately once the calf is born and consumes the colostrum.

Dr. Terhaar will examine how this provides a path to lifetime immunity by using the right product with the right protection at the right time. Watch the webinar to learn how this approach can impact herd health and a producer’s bottom line.
